Description:A CODEC is a device or program capable of performing encoding and decoding on a digital data stream or signal. CODEC is short for "COmpressor-DECompressor" or "COder-DECoder". CODECs can be implemented in software, hardware, or a combination of both. CODECs are used to make large video files much smaller.
There are hundreds or even thousands of CODECs ranging from free ones to ones costing hundreds of dollars or more. On this page you can find links to the main CODECs and CODEC packs that exist today.
